Eat white butter (preferably homemade) in winter as it helps in keeping you warm. Put a dollop of it on your rotis and paranthas. Making butter at home is very simple and does not take much time. In this post, I will tell you the easiest method to make butter from malai, so follow the instructions to make safed Makhan at home easily. You can also add it to saag, dals, and all kinds of stuffed parathas.

Recipe Steps For Making White Butter at home

  1. Keep on collecting the malai of milk in a container for over 8-10 days. After boiling the milk, let it cool down at room temperature and refrigerate overnight. In the morning you will get thick malai is formed at the surface of the milk.
  2. You must store the collected malai in the freezer, after 10 days you will have enough malai to prepare white butte at home. Take out the malai from the fridge and allow it to come at room temperature.
  3. To make white butter, pour 2-3 cups cream into a deep bowl and add ½ -1 cup of water in 2 cups malai. Use cold water in summer and lukewarm water in winters to prepare white butter.
  4. Blend it using a hand blender for 5 minutes or till the butter starts separating from the liquid, within a few minutes butter will collect at the top of the bowl and buttermilk (matha) at the bottom of the bowl.
  5. Transfer this thick layer of butter to another bowl, squeeze out all the water from the butter lightly by pressing it between your palm and shape it like a ball.
  6. The healthy homemade butter is ready to use.

  • This homemade white butter remains fresh in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.
  • By adding sour curd into the buttermilk can be used to make kadhi or any other recipe where the curd is used.
  • This white butter is so healthy as it has no added preservatives, salt, or coloring.
  • It helps boost immunity and good for bone health too.
  • You can add some salt if you want salted butter.
